I came across a rather interesting person this morning…
A guy by the name of Tadas Svilainis, a Lithuanian character. What was rather interesting is the title he gave himself. Artistic Director/Sound Designer. I know right Sound Designer. This intrigued me, I went to his Vimeo Channel and I was quite impressed. I mean nothing he does hasn’t been done before just he packs it up so nice and tidy, it really is quality work.
He really does design sound. I Know we can go on and on forever arguing the details between art and design (and believe me I have in some interesting Uni classes) but he really did manage to design the sound around his quite complex visuals. They do tend to touch the surreal, but from his 140 db video we can see he is depicting something quite real. And there is some pretty nifty VFX added too, his composited 3D animation is super slick.
As far as style goes it is dark and a little twisted, just the way I like it. Even the depth perception and the rather nice out of phase colour tv effect matches the theme really well. The fact that this can all be done now in Hi-Def just makes it all the more tasty to the eyes! Well here you go have a look for yourself.
